A human adventure driven by altruism
Karuna-Shechen celebrates 25 years of commitment, solidarity and benevolence. It's not just the story of one organization, but of an initiative driven by thousands of people - donors, volunteers, employees, partners and people supported - united by a common vision: to build a just and more caring world.
Without each and every one of them, nothing would have been possible. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate all those who have made this wonderful initiative possible, and to lay the foundations for an ever more inclusive and meaningful future. Driven by altruism, cooperation and joy, we continue our commitment with the same conviction: together, we can make a difference.
25 years dedicated to community
Since its creation, Karuna-Shechen has been committed to reducing poverty and enabling the most vulnerable women, men and children to express their full potential. In India, Nepal and Tibet, our holistic approach is based on listening to the needs expressed by local populations. Our close ties enable rural communities to be actors in their own development, and be active participants at every stage of the projects.
Over the past 25 years, our actions have expanded and strengthened: building schools and ecological toilets, setting up mobile health clinics, developing organic vegetable gardens, training women in income-generating trades, etc. Starting with a few hundred people in our early days, by 2024 we had helped almost 500,000 people. Building on these achievements, we are determined to continue our commitment to building a more altruistic, resilient and sustainable future.
