Rahul Shrestha
Building the future through collective strength
In the heart of Ruby Valley, in Nepal, the construction of the Kharsa School marked an important milestone for rural communities in Nepal, illustrating Karuna-Shechen's commitment to supporting sustainable schools that are tailored to local needs and built with the communities themselves.
Rahul Shrestha, education program manager in Karuna-Shechen Nepal, plays a key role in supporting community schools in the region. While listening to the needs of the communities, he facilitates collaboration between residents, local authorities and teachers. Donors are also at the heart of this dynamic: by placing his trust in Karuna's vision, Yousef Aouad embodies the direct, human connection between our benefactors and the projects carried out in the field.

In this portrait, Sunita Sharma, director of Karuna-Shechen Nepal, invites Rahul to share the different dimensions of his work: supporting teachers, building the community ties that are essential to the sustainability of schools, and the collective dynamic that made the construction of Kharsa School possible. Through his eyes, we understand how a school can become much more than a place of learning: a living centre for an entire region, bringing resilience and new perspectives — and how a shared vision can transform a region in a lasting way.
